Michael Moses is Chief Marketing Officer for Universal Pictures. In this role, Moses oversees and orchestrates all aspects of Universal’s feature film marketing.

A key member of the executive team for more than two decades, he has spearheaded campaigns for the most diverse and prolific slate in the industry, propelling the Studio to record-breaking results. Universal was the top distributor domestically, internationally and globally, taking in more than $4 billion worldwide, in 2023. He also oversaw the global marketing efforts for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which earned nearly $1 billion at the global box office. He and his team followed that with an awards campaign that saw Oppenheimer dominate the 2023-2024 season and culminate in seven Academy Award® wins, including Best Picture and Best Director for Nolan. Universal was recognized with the Clio Award for Studio of the Year as a result of all of their campaigns over 2023.

Moses serves as a marketing partner to some of the entertainment industry’s most illustrious and popular brands, including Illumination, Blumhouse and Monkeypaw Productions. He has worked with Illumination since its inception, during which time Despicable Me-Minions has become the biggest animated franchise ever at the global box office. Since joining Universal, Blumhouse has become the preeminent name in horror with an unparalleled run of hits and such standout titles as The Purge and Halloween franchises, Five Nights at Freddy’s and 2023’s viral sensation M3GAN. Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw team broke through with the Academy Award®-winning Get Out, continuing their streak of thought-provoking genre content with Us and Nope.

Previously, Moses served as Executive Vice President of Publicity for eight years beginning in 2002, overseeing domestic publicity campaigns for the Universal slate, before becoming Co-President of Marketing in 2010. During this period, Universal had five films cross $100 million at the domestic box office in summer 2003, a feat unprecedented in studio history at the time. Prior to this role, Moses was Vice President of Publicity when he joined Universal in 2000.

Before joining Universal, he worked as Director of Publicity at Disney, a staff writer at Warner Bros. and began his career in as a Communications Coordinator for the Disney Development Company.

Moses earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing from Pepperdine University, where he graduated summa cum laude and served as valedictorian of his graduating class. He was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and currently resides in Los Angeles.
